Big Games from Last Monday (Slightly Overdue)

Sorry everybody. This report is a week late. There were 2 games last week: World War 1 and 2.
I shall cover the WW1 game first. Playing in it using the Schwerpunkt rules as usual were Mark Alcock, Malcolm Taylor, John Ogden, Andy Hamilton and Paul Robinson. Took photos as usual.

Mark German's, painted by our own Joe Dunn, defending their territory with Paul's "Doughboys" in the distance.

John Ogden's British advancing on Mal Taylor's Germans.

Andy Hamilton's Advancing British.

Close up of some of Mal Taylor's German Officers. Excellently painted and modelled as usual by Mal.

Mal Taylor's German defences with John's British advancing.

John Ogden's British Mark IV Tank.

Paul's American "Doughboys" advancing with his french FT17's up front.

Steve Mercer and Dave Tuck had one of their WW2 Desert Terrain games again, using Blitzkrieg Commander and just a couple of planes. They had tanks and infantry too (little joke). With Steve Mercer as the British aided by Jason Whitfield and his legendary higher-than-average dice throwing. Dave Tuck of course as the Germans with some Italian equipment thrown in. Got some photos of those planes also.

Overview of the WW2 Desert Game. The British plane nearest the British side (right) apparently is a P40 Tomahawk.

Dave Tuck's German Motorcycle battalion.

Dave Tuck's Messerschmit plane.

As I got near this plane belonging to Steve Mercer things got rather windy. It wasn't anyone in the room. Why windy? Well, because it's a Hurricane.

Dave Tuck's Italian Machi plane.

Steve Mercer's new Grant Tanks.

Steve Mercer's new 6pdr Portees.

Another one of Steve Mercer's planes. This one is a Boston Bomber, happily dropping some explosive parcels on Dave Tuck's Panzer 3's.

Both games were the first wargames of 2008 at the club. Hope I got it all right chaps.

News Update

Right now as I am typing this I am full of cold and with a really annoying sore throat. However, to follow up from my advertising for people to come to the game on Friday 28th December 2007, I have posted several news items regarding the battle reports made by myself and Paul on the game. You can view those news items on TMP and TGN which I posted:

http://theminiaturespage.com/news/319855/ Henry Hyde of Battlegames was the first to put a comment on the news item

http://www.tabletopgamingnews.com/2008/01/03/11813

As always more of this news will slowly be posted round the net via yahoogroups, emails and various forums. Will probably do it later as I'm going to the club tonight to play some card/board games.

Happy New Year 2008

Happy New Year to you all. For us lads I thought I'd post a picture of some gorgeous girl near some military equipment but couldn't find one. Settled for this beauty instead (left), one of the gorgeous Hooters girls.

I will certainly be paying more attention to those girls from now on. You can find more of them here:
http://www.hooterscalendar.com/ and here :

Well, us wargamers do like models, don't we?

For a quick recap of 2007:

The website was revamped and then revamped again. New Galleries were then added which meant that all members could upload to the website in their own time all their own photos. I've still got loads to upload there myself.

This blog was started just before the Triples show in March and it will continue for many years to come I hope.

My photography I think has improved considerably in the past year. It's not perfect by any means but I'd be lost without a tripod. Unlike Paul Robinson who seems to be able to take decent photos without a tripod, as he probably has a steady hand, I find a tripod makes for clearer steadier photos. Just to show some improvement in pics:

Taken during early March at an ancients game at the club.

Taken at the end of November 2007, 15mm Seven Years War figures. This photo was one of the photos that misbehaved at the beginning of December 2007 due to an issue with blogger.

Managed to attend 3 wargames shows in 2007 those being Triples, Partizan 1 in May 2007 and Durham Wargames Group Annual Show in June 2007.
Some of my Triples photos ended up on the Falkirk Wargames Club website. My WW2 photos ended up on the website of Steve Spence, a former member of the club, of my photos of his demo game at the Durham Wargames Group show.

Still developing my artistic eye, which is an ongoing thing.

As for my aims for 2008, watch this space soon. Whatever you do this year, whether it be a new painting or terrain project, playing a different period to a period you normally would play, remember that whether you win or lose, the most important thing to do is to enjoy yourself, have fun and have a laugh doing it.

Best Wishes for 2008.
