Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas to all of you and thank you for reading my blog for the past year!

Over this holiday season you can expect more posts from me.

Once again I will remind you that Doctor Who, The End of Time Part 1 is on BBC1 at 6pm. It marks the beginning of the end for David Tennants 10th Doctor. The End of Time Part 2 is on BBC1 on New Years Day at 6.40pm. It is then that Matt Smith the new Doctor takes over.

Below are some more Doctor Who Youtube vids, the first 2 below showing how the Doctor defeated the Master last time followed by a slightly different trailer for The End of Time. Have a nice day. Enjoy your Christmas Dinner and relax with some booze.

Wars of the Roses and Guests

On Saturday 12th December 2009 there was a Wars of the Roses game played on our big table downstairs. We had the pleasure of some friends out of town joining in with the game who are from the Society of Gentlemen Gamers. The Society of Gentlemen Gamers can be found here at: http://www.societyofgentlemengamers.org/

The Battle between the Yorkists and Lancastrians heats up. On the Yorkists side were Mark Alcock, Dave P (of SOGG) and Dave Tuck. On the Lancastrian side,on the left, were John Ogden, James (of SOGG) and Mike Barnatt.

Close up of some of the Yorkists with Dave P in the background.

Thats Mark Alcock in the back of the photo moving some of the Yorkists.

Looking towards the Lancastrian Lines.

On the left is the Lancastrian Lines. Forefront left is James of SOGG. Behind him is John Ogden.

The Yorkists won again...

International Human Rights Day

On today it is International Human Rights Day as organised by Amnesty International. It is also on this day that we are reminded that every person on this planet has human rights. The UN Declaration of Human Rights can be found here:

http://www.un.org/events/humanrights/2008/declaration.shtml

What many people do not immediately realise is that in many countries all over the world many people are denied their basic human rights. It is absolutely disgusting. For example, Iran has a reputation as a country with a poor human rights record. For more news about Human Rights Abuses follow this link:

http://www.google.co.uk/search?hl=en&rlz=1I7GGLL_en-GB&tbo=s&tbs=nws%3A1&q=human+rights+abuses&btnG=Search&meta=&aq=f&oq=

One of many organisations dedicated to raising awareness about Human Rights and combatting any instances of those denial of Human Rights is Amnesty International. Go to Amnesty at:

http://www.amnesty.org.uk/

If you want to take action to help another person's and your own human rights follow this link:

http://www.amnesty.org.uk/content.asp?CategoryID=10009

The Human Rights of everyone must be protected. How would you like it if your rights were denied you?

Human Rights applies to everyone including in their workplace. For information about your Human Rights in the Workplace (in the UK anyway) go to:

http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/Employment/ResolvingWorkplaceDisputes/DiscriminationAtWork/DG_10026574

Take Action Now! Stand up for your rights if you think they are being violated and help protect everyone else's rights too!

Wargames 23rd November 2009

It was one of those nights which had a few games on.

A 15mm Napoleonic game between the Prussians and French. The Prussians on the left belong to John Ogden while the French on the right belong to Mark Alcock.

A WSS Game between Mike Barnatt's Tecklenbergers (on the left) or Andy Hamilton's Austrians (on the right). Andy Hamilton was also assisted by Mal Taylor.

Both sides in the WSS Game begin to move to the center of the action...

The Tecklenbergers (or Cheeseburgers as i sometimes call them) do battle with the Austrians mid-table. In the end the Tecklenbergers won.

These 2 photos (above) and the 1 below were taken using my digital camera by our own Martin Buck and are of the WW2 Desert game using the Blitzkrieg Commander rules on the big table downstairs.

Playing in this game were Dave Tuck, Steve Mercer, Myself, Malcolm and Ron Skeet. Steve Mercer, using his own army, was the British. He was outnumbered by the rest of us playing as the Italians except for Ron who was playing as the Germans. All German and Italian armies belonged to Dave Tuck.

As my dice throwing had been really bad by throwing unusually high dice - well for me anyway - it meant my force - these M13/40 Italian Tanks - did not even move till about 9pm. Unfortunately they then didnt move for the rest of the game either.

How it looked at the end of the game.

These Italian Infantry are standard infantry. They are in fact Bersagleri. And are Dave Tuck's.

Wars of the Roses 2nd November 2009

Multiplayer games with quite a few gamers involved in them is one thing the Grimsby Wargames Society is very good at. On 2nd November 2009 the club demonstrated that again.

There was a large Wars of the Roses game on our big table downstairs. A total of 8 players playing (not myself).....

On the Lancastrians side (the left side) was Mike Barnatt, Andy, John Ogden and Tony Walmsley. On the right as the Yorkists was Ron Skeet, Dave Tuck, Malcolm, Mark Alcock and another member whose name has unsually escaped me.

This pic is an aerial view taken by standing on top of a chair...

Some serious meleeing going on here between the Yorkists and Lancastrians.

A view of the battlefield just before the game ended...

The Yorkists won....

I intend my next post to be written using some new desktop blogging software I am trying out which may make it easier for me to blog without logging in all the time.
